Meet Zoe, clinical counsellor and somatic therapist.

Zoe Ho, RCC, CCC, MACP

Registered Clinical Counsellor

Canadian Certified Counsellor

Hi, I’m Zoe Ho (she/her), a registered clinical counsellor (RCC, CCC) and founder of Avalo Therapy + Wellness. With over a decade of experience in somatic therapy and a master’s degree in Counselling Psychology, I help clients navigate life’s twists and turns with resilience, humour, and practical strategies.

As a first-generation immigrant, I’ve lived in Asia, Vancouver, and Canada’s Arctic, where amplifying Inuit voices deepened my empathy and cultural respect. Life’s challenges—including cancer, divorce, and PTSD—have shaped my trauma-informed, culturally sensitive approach. I provide an inclusive space for healing, growth, and celebrating your strengths.

I specialize in working with  BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities, supporting identity exploration, relationship transitions, and sex-positive healing. Using somatic therapy, EMDR, expressive arts, and mindfulness self-compassion, I tailor therapy to your unique needs.

Outside the therapy room, I lead embodied-mindfulness workshops and psychoeducation sessions for organizations like Gallup Inc. and Google Asia. My work is grounded in compassion, creativity, and a belief that your personal healing contributes to collective liberation.

Let’s turn your challenges into growth—together. Book a free consultation or a full session below. I look forward to meeting you!

Approach

My therapeutic approach is to welcome you into a safe space filled with warmth, respect, and non-judgement. Here you can feel unconditionally supported to explore your lived experiences, thoughts, and feelings.

Collaboratively, we will identify your needs and understand what blocks your authentic self-expression.

We will practice safe ways to attune to your body, to ease and regulate your challenging emotions and sensations.

You will gain insight from embodied approaches and evidence-based treatments that nurture mind-body healing. You will feel better resourced, increasing your confidence and capacity for connection.

In addition to traditional talk therapy, you will be supported by integrative and holistic therapies, including proven therapies for the safe processing of trauma. Modalities used include somatic therapy, mindfulness self-compassion, IFS (Internal Family Systems) as well as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and more.

Our Values

Integrative Embodied Approach

We provide trauma-informed, integrative therapy, including holistic and somatic approaches for mind-body connection. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) helps to safely desensitize traumatic memories. We are experienced in treating PTSD, anxiety, depression, and/or other trauma-related symptoms.

Collaborative & Inclusive

We respect that each person’s identity is intersectional and unique. We provide a collaborative space where you can safely question and challenge how systemic, societal and cultural oppression impacts your sense of choice. We are sex and pleasure positive.

Strengths-based

We offer a strengths-based, non-judgemental approach. Mental health challenges are often rooted in internalized shame and blame. We support you to liberate such blocks, and to celebrate your strengths. You will gain clarity, self-compassion and insight.

After my session with Zoe, I experienced a huge shift. I went in feeling tired, with a cluttered mind... anxious, sensitive and sad. Now I feel clear, grounded and at peace. With happiness and trust, (feelings that have been hard to come by lately) and way less overthinking... Zoe is an amazing practitioner, as she put her heart and soul into the session. It was truly healing on many levels... Deep gratitude.

JP, Cancer Patient

Zoe consistently creates an environment of trust and love. Her workshops are consistently inclusive, loving, instructional and non-judgemental. She is a wonderful therapist and when you mix it with yoga and ice cream... words just don't seem enough.

DW, Yoga and Mindful Eating Workshop Participant

Zoe exudes warmth and gentleness, providing a comfortable experience for all her clients. She is respectful and knowledgeable, infusing her sessions with wisdom and lived experience. She will journey alongside you with her kind humour and sensibility.

Janet Shim, Registered Clinical Counsellor, MACP.

Astoundingly, we end up so burdened, trying hard to fit into Canadian society. Zoe invites us to slow down and incorporates wisdom from ancient traditions as well science-based research in every session. She creates a necessary and safe space in which I can acknowledge that the system is broken without fear of judgment. I have forgotten how to play sometimes, and Zoe suggests movements and verbal explorations to encounter overlooked parts of myself.

SM, Exploring Intersectional Idenity

Zoe’s kindness, warmth and humour feels like sunshine. She brings her heart and mind to her sessions, and goes above and beyond to help her clients feel safe and welcome. Zoe is an excellent counsellor who will help clients rediscover a connection to their bodies through her somatic practice, yoga, EMDR, and traditional talk therapy.
